Meet the Team

At Starfish Early Childhood Centre we value our unique role in contributing to your child's important early years. We employ qualified and experienced staff that together hold an extensive wealth of knowledge.

Our qualified teachers hold current first aid certificates and all of our staff are police vetted and reference checked.

Starfish staff welcome you as parents into the Centre and encourages your involvement. Your child will be supported, guided and respected while at our Centre.

Bachelor of Business, Diploma of Teaching Primary and Early Childhood

Hello, my name is Robyn. As the owner of Starfish I am your first port of call at the Centre. I am a qualified Primary and Early Childhood teacher and have a degree in Business Stuides. I have worked in education for over fifteen years as I absolutely love working with and educating young children. I am especially passionate about creating stimulating, nurturing environments for pre-schoolers to learn in and ensuring each individual child reaches their full potential. My husband Alistair and I have two lovely teenage girls of our own who keep us busy outside the Centre.

Bachelor of Arts, Diploma of Teaching ECE

Kia ora. Hi, my name is Sharon and I am the Senior Teacher at Starfish. I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood. I am fully registered with the New Zealand Teachers Council and have worked in early childhood for 20 years now on the Hibiscus Coast. I love working with young children, fostering independent learning and promoting an inclusive environment for them and their families. I am also an avid netball fan having played all my life.

Hi, my name is Angeline but I am known as Angi. I have worked in early childhood education for fifteen years and have been working at Starfish for just on ten years. I have worked with both toddlers and pre-schoolers. I currently hold a Diploma of Teaching in Early Childhood and I am fully registered with the New Zealand Teachers Council. I am a busy working Mum so when I am not at work I spend most of my time with my husband Carl and two lovely daughters.

Kia ora, my name is Janet. I have been at Starfish for six and a half years. I am a fully registered teacher and have been working with children most of my adult life.  I love working with pre-schoolers, building relationships with them and their families. My approach to teaching is contextual and I always like to have fun. I am married to Des and we have two children Luke who is a teacher and Terri who is at university. In my spare time I like to go out on our boat, catch up with friends, rummage around markets, garage sales and op shops and I love to eat cake.

Teacher Aide

Hi my name is Darrinee and I have worked at Starfish as a Teacher Aide for eight years. I find it very rewarding working with children as I enjoy their innocent and humorous nature and each day is varied. I live locally with my husband and two children and we enjoy spending time at the beach and being involved in netball.

Hi, my name is Denise. I have been working in early childhood for over fourteen years as a Teacher Aide. I enjoy working with children and love that every day is different and refreshing. In my spare time I enjoy gardening and fishing with my husband on our boat. I also enjoy getting my nose into a good book and reading. I have one lovely daughter Holly who is twenty one this year.

Katherine McLeod

Hi, my name is Kathy. I am a qualified early childhood teacher with full registration. My husband and I have two daughters, two dogs and a cat. We live locally and our daughters go to Stanmore Bay School. I have always enjoyed the everyday conversations I have with children, listening to their ideas and theories. In my spare time I enjoy bush walks, mountain biking, fishing and crocheting.

Kia ora, my name is Sam Domett and I'm 26 years old. I graduated AUT in 2014 with a Bachelor of Education. Almost immediately I was employed at Starfish- now in my third year of teaching, I am having a wonderful time. I live with my partner Nick and our cat Calvin in Army Bay. In my spare time I like to draw, listen to music and collect toys. I'm very close with my family so I value the time I spend with them, and of course my friends and animals. I really look forward to getting to know the Starfish children and their families.
